The campaign to build Ruxton's new

"Green" Middle School building...

Ruxton Country School moved to its current campus more than ten years ago and it has happily outgrown the facility built then.  Temporary trailers were purchased to hold the majority of the Middle School classes but by the very nature of their name—they are temporary and it is vital that we build a new, permanent Middle School facility in order to strengthen our program and better serve our students.  The accompanying renovations to the original building will also have a significant impact on the quality of education in the Lower School, particularly as it relates to integrating our curriculum and meeting the individual needs of students.

The new building is connected to the Student Activity Center on campus. This new facility houses expanded science and computer labs, larger classrooms, and meeting spaces for faculty and student activities.  As a result of this campus addition, other programs (The Arts and Resource) will be able to move into areas vacated by current Middle and Lower School Classes, allowing for greater flexibility in the Lower School scheduling and also creating an atmosphere that is less hectic and far more conducive to learning.   The library, too, will feel the benefits of this campus addition as it will either be relocated to the Activities Building or expanded and modernized in its current location.

Not only does this new facility change the look and layout of the campus, its influence will affect the lessons children learn as well as the very manner in which they learn them. A knowledge base grounded in the principles of sustainability will ripple outward for a lifetime and beyond.

Many generous donors have come forward to show support for this important project. Their names are displayed above classrooms, labs or meeting spaces throughout the building. Please contact Jill Goodman, Director of Planning and School Strategy to discuss naming opportunities in the new Middle School at 443-544-3000 ext. 236.
