From the President...
Dear Web Site Friends,
As President of the Board of
Trustees, I welcome you to Ruxton Country School’s web-site.
The school was founded in 1913.
From that beginning, Ruxton has been educating individual students individually.
The school’s philosophy is to teach its students the skills enabling them to
learn within their individual learning styles. These skills are then taken with
them when they leave the school to be used in further educational challenges, as
well as for the challenges of life in general.
The school also strives to teach
additional skills. Naming just a few, its students are taught the need to be a
positive and dedicated member of their community. They are also taught civility
to one another, a sense of fairness, and a sense of what’s right and wrong.
Additionally, they are taught to respect their environment, because they are its
future stewards. With this in mind, the school’s new environmentally green
middle school building, which is scheduled for completion in the next few
months, is a tangible reminder to them of the commitment that has been made in
their name, and with the knowledge that it will serve as a model for their
future decisions.
I continually remind the board that
everyone has their “boss”. For us, it’s our students, and as a board we are to
discern their needs and then to provide for them to the best of our abilities.
Come, visit Ruxton Country School, and meet our bosses. Learn from them the
success of educating individual students individually.
Sincerely,
J. Thomas Bashore
